Happy Sunday friends!
I’ve got my in-laws in town this weekend, so we’re going to keep it a little bit short.
I started doing a devotional book called “Redefined” and I am LOVING it. Highly recommend checking it out. It’s about redefining our identity through God.
One of this week’s topics was our limitations. As people, we are always told that we can do ANYTHING, be ANYTHING and to GO GO GO, because trying to DO IT ALL is the key to success and making people think that we are just awesome at life.
I think most of us know this only leads NO WHERE GOOD. We become tired and exhausted when we look to the world’s standard of “how to be awesome” by trying to do it all.
We have to accept that we have limits. And, these limits are GOOD! Understanding these limits, and embracing them, allows us to better understand GOD’S limitless ability that makes up for ALL our insufficiencies. His ways and thoughts are WAY beyond ours.
When we recognize our limitations, we are able to better worship Him for who He is. We can slow down and spend time with Him and recognize what He is doing for us, rather than just rushing through our busy schedules like crazy people. This only leaves us frazzled at both being effective for God, and for even giving us the thought power to recognize His work in our life and thank Him for that.
The world tells us DON’T QUIT. MOVE AHEAD. KEEP GOING. But, today, I want to challenge you to BE A QUITTER. Think of the things in your life holding you back from living out God’s limitless glory. Let’s recognize our limits and praise Him for his boundless mercies and grace.
Here are a few of things on my list:
I (AM TRYING TO) QUIT
- Trying to be perfect
- Letting my social media numbers define me
- Letting the number on the scale define me
- Comparison
- Letting how many hours I day I work define me
- Feeling “lazy” if I take a day off, let alone a few hours
I’m “TRYING” to quit because I know that I am not perfect, and I am not just going to magically quit overnight. But, we must acknowledge these things we want to end, pray about them daily and keep trusting in the Lords boundless-ness, that we can be free from these things!
What do you quit?

Awesome verse, one we need to be reminded of often. God is holy, and he is not limited as we are. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
